Palestine and Lebanon have revealed to us,
in all the tens of thousands of deaths, the utter
emptiness of all the self-declared values
and virtues of the 'West' (and which
Iraq and Vietnam should have taught
us permanently); yet the 'West' still
believes it and Israel can just pretend
that nothing has happened, that
nothing has changed, that the Emperor,
his satrap leading him in a chain,
and all in their slouching entourage,
wear something else and more than blood.
