A clear morning,
brief sunlight
and then the gloom
of autumn falling
across July afternoon,
haunting it with dark
hues - and the observing
mind reflecting them,
it being no more master
of its own movements
than the surface
of a shallow lake
that never stirs
and rises in waves
on its own.
