Ten days, and there's a cat very much
like you in a photograph from Epirus,
on the street and perhaps homeless
yet perhaps near his home, spending
time with other cats all having that
Lee van Cleef -look you had, but
only this one is black and white,
much younger, of course, than you
and even if he has home in one
of those white, neat houses beside
the street, he's unlikely to live
as long as you did, mostly curtailed
inside, your escapades outside
limited, the moments of lounging
on warm stones heated by the Sun,
like this furry colleague of yours,
few and far between.
