An Apollo astronaut made of chocolate
has stood longer in the chocolate shop
than all twelve human beings stood
on the desolate surface of our Moon.
The nylon flags raised to stand on the regolith
knocked over by the ascent stages, bleached
by ultraviolet radiation, but what will survive
one hundred thousand years or more
are footsteps on the Moon by astronauts
of flesh and blood, while this astronaut
will never leave a footprint, only,
if ever eaten, a good taste.
