Watching glaciers in Greenland
flow white-blue to the deep, clear
blue of the ocean, I am struck how
the slow death of the planet as we
know it can look serenely beautiful,
from a distance, in air and space,
and I wonder how many in the future
will think our sunken coastal cities
also serenely beautiful, no different
from some ancient sunken ruin now,
sculpted by millennia into something
more than mere evidence
of a past tragedy?
