Just sixty years after it and even in our
age of printed and digital memory
the list of people in a photograph taken
at the International Gathering of Poets,
held in Mexico City in February 1964,
starts with "unidentified" and continues
with "unidentified" and includes
a third "unidentified".
Well within a living human memory,
the oldest human being still alive
was turning 57, could have been a parent
to one of them, when the "unidentified"
stood and listened to a poetry reading
and were captured on photographic film.
And now, they are as nameless to us as some
tribute bearer on a relief in Persepolis.
